Last Wednesday, I met Kempy in Paris and we saw The Strokes. It was seriously insanely amazing and we worked our way to the barrier (well, Kempy worked my way to the barrier). It is without a doubt one of my best memories of this summer.

The Past Few Weeks
My lack of posting is due to the fact that my computer crashed about three weeks ago, and while much has happened, I’ll keep it short and sweet.
My mom came to visit two weeks ago, which was amazing! It was fun to show her all of my regular spots, and seeing her again made me realize how much I miss her! We took a little weekend trip to Paris and Reims for the weekend. It was nice to see Paris again; it had been about five years since my last visit and I think I was able to appreciate it a little more this time around.
On Friday evening, we went to a little restaurant called Refuge Des Fondues. I’ll let the pictures above speak for themselves. Unfortunately, my phone was stolen, so my original pictures are now in the hands of some genius eight-year-old that pulled a heist on my beautiful phone. Google images had several options to choose from, though, so enjoy! It really is one the the most unique dining experiences I’ve ever had.
After wandering through the twisted and dark (but kind of cool) MEP Museum, we made our way to a cafe to get some water. A group of eight-year-olds came up to us and put a piece of paper with French scrawling down on the table. Apparently my phone was under that piece of paper and they took it. How furtive. I’m now considering the creation of a condensed “Taken” parody. I’m Liam Neeson, the eight-year-old’s are obviously the antagonists, and my phone will play my child. Aside from that minute obstacle, Paris was as wonderful as ever.
On Sunday, we ventured out to Reims to do some champagne tasting. It was nice to be out of an urban environment for a few hours, but Reims is pretty much dead on Sunday’s. Oops for not researching further prior to making our reservations.
However, we did discover that the Tattinger tour is open on Sunday’s during high season. The caves are insane: dark, freezing and ancient are all words that come to mind. Again, though, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Although Paris and Reims were both excellent, my favorite part was spending time with my momma!
We brought the Fourth of July to Brussels this year. Granted it’s not as spectacular as the fireworks display posted below, but we made do with what we had and it turned out to be an awesome Fourth!

I’ll be missing these today. Happy 235th, America! I’m wearing white and blue (no red, sorry people), barbecuing and having a beer tonight in your honor at the ever so subtly titled American bar, Fat Boy’s. Check it out on Trip Advisor if you’re interested: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g188644-d1058106-Reviews-Fat_Boys_Sports_Pub-Brussels.html Happy 4th, party people! Above is a video my dad sent me from last night’s festivities.
